CIX joins CPEC – Center for Perspicuous Computing

With the start of 2023, we’re happy to announce that the CIX group starts collaborating with many other brilliant researchers from Saarland University, the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, and TU Dresden by joining the Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio 248 “Foundations of Perspicuous Software Systems” (short: CPEC) funded by the DFG. Anna Feit already became a member in 2021 and will be a Project Leader with the start of the second 4-year funding period.

Generally speaking, the Research Centre focuses on cyber-phyiscal systems of the future, enabling them to explain their functionality and behaviour. Examples are autonomous drones, cyber-physical production systems or smart cities. Increasingly, computer programs will participate in actions and decisions that affect humans. With experts in key areas of computer science, we are therefore developing a profound and usable theory of explicable systems which provide explanations to different user groups by means of interactive visualisations and verbalisations. The CIX group will join the newly funded E6 project which develops cooperative user interfaces that support users for example in monitoring tasks. Therefore, we collaborate with researchers from computational linguistics and artificial intelligence. See here for more info: https://www.perspicuous-computing.science/projects/e6/
